Barbara Klett (LL.M.) is a Certified Specialist for torts and insurance law (SBA– Swiss Bar Association) with a wide experience in the insurance and transport sectors. Barbara provides legal advice, conducts litigation and acts as mediator in the areas of liability and insurance law, international logistics and transport law.
Barbara is mediator of the Swiss Bar Association (SBA) and of the German lawyer academy (DAA).
Her prior experience includes several years as an in-house counsel in the head office of one of the largest Swiss insurances in the claim and underwriting department. Barbara established the national claim centre of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB CFF FFS), which she directed until 2002. Barbara was member of the extra-parliamentary Railways Arbitration Commission (RailCom) and expert auditor in the quality management system ISO 9001 of an international law firm network.
Barbara is a lecturer at the University of Lucerne and at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Lucerne, within the CAS Management Transport & Logistics. She is a member of the expert commission SBA Torts and Insurance Law and member of the editorial board of HAVE (liability and insurance).
Barbara has contributed to a number of publications in the area of torts and insurance law as well as transport and logistic law. A selection of her latest publications had the subject: “Transporting during the COVID-19 pandemic - legal analysis of the challenges” (2020); “The Liability of Railway Undertakings and Infrastructure Undertakings in Comparative Law” (2019). Her next scientific contribution in 2021 concerns the topic of "Soft Law in Liability Law".
