Ariane is based in Paris and is co-Head of Bird & Bird’s international data protection team and privacy practice. She is a leading name in personal data protection law.
With her dedicated international data protection team, Ariane advises extensively local and international companies and public-sector clients. She has particular expertise in assisting organizations through the twists and turns of local law divergences and different interpretations between countries, so that they can reach global compliance and find practical solutions. She advises on all aspects of data protection and GDPR compliance, including responses to complaints and exercises of rights; security breach management and notifications; contracts; GDPR procedures, privacy policies, and documentation; assessment of legal basis for processing; and digital compliance (cookies, cyber security), to name a few. Ariane also assists with international transfers of personal data, with BCRs, and with specific actions to be put in place following the “Schrems II” decision from the CJEU.
Ariane also assists clients in court with data protection litigations, with dawn raids by data protection authorities, disputes against the French Data Protection Authority (CNIL) and other regulators.
A member of the Paris and Luxembourg Bars, Ariane previously worked at the French Data Protection Authority (CNIL), and as a data protection expert within the European Union Commission, so she has in-house experience with regulators. She is ranked in the “Spotlight Table” by Chambers, named as a “key player” by Decideurs, and a “Leading Individual” by Legal 500.
Ariane is also accredited as a legal expert to the “European Privacy Seal” (EuroPriSe), so she is entitled to assess data protection compliance at EU level. This allows manufacturers and vendors to obtain EuroPriSe data protection certification of their IT products, software, websites, and IT based services.
Her training «Personal Data Protection : Achieving the compliance target! » obtained the CNIL’s label and was re-certified by the CNIL in 2018 in compliance with the GDPR. This training program, which complies with the CNIL’s official standards, allows for GDPR certification as a DPO.
Ariane does many training seminars and webinars in order to keep clients up to date with new developments, and is a frequent speaker at data protection conferences and events over the world. She is also a regular contributor to newspapers and legal magazines.
