Andreas Baumann is a partner and managing director of PHH Tax – a further arm of internationally highly rising PHH Rechtsanwälte, currently under the management of Rainer Kaspar (M&A) and Julia Fritz (Real Estate) – specialising on national and international tax law and tax planning as well as on Private Equity and M&A transactions including distressed M&A and corporate restructurings. As most familiar and internationally well-known and connected lawyer he brings into PHH Austria a further significant international footprint. He is qualified as a lawyer, tax adviser and management consultant. Andreas has significant experience of more than 20 years at Big Four accounting firms and leading European law firms such as Schönherr and Wolf Theiss. Before spinning-off of his whole tax practice to PHH Tax lately, Andreas was managing partner of Rödl & Partner Internationale Steuerberatung. In July 2020, Andreas and his team closed the first reorganisation of its kind all-time in Europe of jointly five cross-border mergers of CEE companies into an Austrian Holding. For the client, giant ThyssenKrupp Elevator Eastern Europe, this may be a blueprint for further projects. Andreas is a long-standing university lecturer on international taxation, as well as a member of the examination board of the Austrian Chamber of Tax Advisers. He is a regular author and speaker, nationally and internationally.
Already in 2013, his strong and since then ongoingly developed tax and M&A boutique firm was awarded as best European newcomer at the ITR European Tax Awards in London and was nominated and awarded regularly since then inter alia with the International Tax Review, World Tax, at CV magazine's Corporate Excellent Awards, Chambers Europe and IFCM 500.
