André Mendes Moreira is a senior partner at Sacha Calmon – Misabel Derzi Consultores e Advogados. He has unique, nationwide tax litigation and consultancy experience, having acted across the 26 states of Brazil, as well as in the Federal Capital (Brasília), assisting renowned domestic and multinational companies with activities across the country and representing them in leading tax law cases before the administrative courts(at State and federal levels) as well as the Federal Supreme Court and the Superior Court of Justice.
In the academic field, André has a prominent career having become a well-recognised professor and Researcher and a frequent lecturer in national and international tax law events.
Currently, he holds the position of adjunct professor of tax law at the LLB, LLM and PhD programmes of the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), where he has graduated with distinction and obtained his master's degree. He also holds a PhD in tax law from the University of São Paulo(USP) where he recently finished a postdoctoral research fellowship programme.
He's the sole author of the books Neutralidade, Valor Acrescido e Tributação (Neutrality, Value-Added and Taxation, published by Editora Forum), A Não-Cumulatividade dos Tributos (On Value-Added Taxes, published by Editora Noeses), A Tributação dos Serviços de Comunicação (On the Taxation of Communication Services, published by Editora Noeses) and co-author of Questões Fiscais das Empresas de Mineração(Fiscal Issues of Mining Companies, published by Editora Del Rey). He’s also a co-editor of the booksTributação do Setor Elétrico (Taxation of Electrical Companies, published by Editora D’Plácido) and Tributação nas Telecomunicações (Taxation of Telecommunication Companies, published by Editora Quartier Latin). André has published over 100 articles related to tax law.
André is the vice-president of the tax committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Minas Gerais and the institutional relations director of the Brazilian Association of Tax Law.
In São Paulo, he is a member of the council of high studies in finances and taxation, of the São Paulo Chamber of Commerce.
