Transocean, a leading offshore drilling contractor, has hired Nick Deeming as senior vice president, general counsel and assistant corporate secretary of the company.
He started in his new role on 7 February taking over from Eric Brown who held the position since 1995. Brown will move to Houston to handle the company’s litigation work arising from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
Deeming joins from art auction house Christie’s International where he served as general counsel and company secretary responsible for managing the group’s legal and compliance functions worldwide, developing new business opportunities and providing key strategic input.
His other former positions include chief legal counsel at Sema Group, the Anglo-French IT services provider, and group legal director for insurer PPP Healthcare.
