Top French arbitrators reveal merger proposal

Yves Derains and Serge Lazareff have announced plans to combine their firms to create an international arbitration boutique in Paris.
They will be working alongside Derains' son, Bertrand, and Hamid Gharavi who is currently a partner at Salans in Paris. Derains-Gharavi-Lazareff will be launched on 1 January 2009 and will focus on advising arbitrators and counsel in domestic and international law in all types of major arbitral proceedings.
Yves Derains, the former secretary general of the ICC International Arbitration Court, has successfully arbitrated many international cases and has a strong presence in the Latin America region.
As former general counsel of aluminium company Pechiney and a partner at Serge Lazareff Law Firm, Lazareff is highly experienced in public as well as private services.
Both appear in The International Who's Who of Commercial Arbitration.
