Atlas America and Atlas Energy Resources have announced a definitive merger agreement in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Atlas America was advised by Wachtell Lipton Rosen & Katz; Atlas Energy Resources, by Jones Day; and a special committee to the board of directors of Atlas Energy Resources was represented by K&L Gates LLP.
Atlas America, a company that focuses on extracting natural gas, oil, and other energy assets primarily in the Appalachians, already owns approximately 48 per cent of Atlas Energy Resources. As a result of the merger Atlas Energy Resources will survive as a wholly owned subsidiary of Atlas America.
