Yahoo will be hiring a new IP head following the departure of Joseph Siino.
He is leaving to join the patent monetisation industry.
In 2005 when Siino joined Yahoo, he assembled a group of 35 people in the company's IP department who focused on building the patent portfolio, cutting licensing deals, and handling IP litigation.
One of the biggest deals that Siino helped broker was the $1 billion joint venture with Alibaba.com.
Before joining Yahoo, Siino had worked at IP consulting shop, Inflexion Point Strategy. He also headed Brobeck Phleger & Harrison's IP strategy and technology transactions group.
