Chris Ancliff has been appointed the newly created position of general counsel and senior vice president of Warner Music Group.
Based in London, Ancliff will work closely with WMG’s music recorded and publishing affiliates throughout Europe, Asia and Latin America.
Ancliff will be responsible for the group’s legal and business affairs activities outside the US and will report directly to the company’s executive vice president and general counsel, Paul Robinson.
Ancliff says that he is looking forward to working with Paul and the WMG’s legal and business affairs team.
“I’m excited to be joining WMG at a time when the company is so focused on aggressively transforming its business. WMG’s dynamic approach is already helping to define the future of the industry on many levels by pioneering the negotiation and implementation of expanded-rights agreements, developing ground-breaking licensing solutions and launching cutting-edge digital initiatives.”
Ancliff joins from EMI Music where he held several positions during his 11-year tenure including general counsel and vice president of legal and business.
He began his career at Linklaters before moving to PolyGram International in 1993.
