Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP has welcomed leading antitrust lawyer Michael Sohn as of counsel in its Washington, DC, office.
He arrives from Arnold & Porter LLP, where he has been a partner since 1972 and served as chairman of the firm from 1996 to 2006. He was also general counsel of the Federal Trade Commission from 1977 to 1980.
Sohn is nationally recognised for his skills as a negotiator and his ability to craft settlements in complex and sensitive antitrust matters.
He has represented clients in a variety of industries including health care and medicine, finance, and technology. He is currently representing PepsiCo in connection with the acquisition of its two main bottlers, The Pepsi Bottling Group and PepsiAmericas.
Commenting on his move, he says: “I expect to continue what I have been doing, namely the full-time representation of clients before the [US antitrust authorities] in complex merger matters, investigations and litigation.”
