Oleg Riabokon has left Magisters, the firm he co-founded, to launch a political career and run for public office in Ukraine.
Riabokon said: “It is with great passion and purpose that I have taken a decision to enter the world of politics. It is my ambition to establish our country as one firmly based on democratic principles and to enable change in Ukrainian society focusing on our most important asset – our people – I want Ukrainians to be able to make lifestyle choices in a free and fair society.”
Riabokon established Magisters (formerly Magisters & Partners) in 1997 in Ukraine. In March this year, he launched a strategic counsel made up of six partners at the firm and stepped down as managing partner.
“I am very proud of the Magisters’ team, which has constantly been recognised as the leading law firm across the CIS and with great confidence I leave a great organisation consisting of the best lawyers and professionals in the region to take the firm forward,” he adds.
Riabokon has acted as counsel in 90 trade-related matters around the world, including high-level EU-Ukraine, US-Ukraine, Ukraine-Russia and Ukraine-China trade negotiations. He is particularly experienced in the steel and chemicals industries and also has extensive experience in construction and real estate in Ukraine and Russia.
Riabokon was featured in The International Who’s Who of Trade & Customs Lawyers.
