Kevin Dempsey trades private practice for in-house role

The American Iron and Steel Institute has hired Kevin Dempsey as senior vice president, public policy and general counsel.
He comes from the Washington, DC, office of Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP where he was a partner specialising in trade law.
His responsibilities include enhancing the association's capabilities and advocating their critical policy issues, which comprise climate change, trade, access to affordable energy and other issues directly impacting the global competitiveness of the local steel industry.
"I look forward to working with North American steel producers to promote public policies that will permit this critical industry to compete in the global economy," Dempsey says.
Dempsey brings legislative, public policy and international trade law experience to AISI. He has litigated numerous anti-dumping and countervailing duty cases before the US International Trade Commission, the US Department of Commerce, and the US Court of International Trade and NAFTA binational panels.
Dempsey previously featured in The International Who's Who of Trade & Customs Lawyers.
