Online real estate company Zillow.com has hired Kathleen Philips as general counsel in Seattle.
Philips will oversee all the company’s legal affairs, including corporate governance, partnership agreements, intellectual property rights and compliance matters.
She brings extensive experience of running corporate law and other departments in start-up and mid-stage companies, including live event ticket search engine FanSnap – where she most recently served as general counsel.
Before FanSnap, Philips was general counsel at Pure Digital Technologies, where she handled board and stockholder issues, securities law compliance and intellectual property litigation, among other legal matters.
“Kathleen’s range of legal and operating experience in high-growth technology companies makes her the ideal person to head Zillow’s legal efforts as we continue to grow and expand our capabilities,” said Spencer Rascoff, Zillow's chief operating officer.
Commenting on her new post, Philips says: “Zillow is a technology innovator and one of the most influential brands in online real estate. I am excited to join such a highly respected team and support the company’s continued growth.”
Launched in early 2006 and headquartered in Seattle, Zillow.com has become one of the most-visited US real estate websites. Today it receives nearly 12 million unique visitors per month and has raised $87 million in funding.
