Cartel specialist Julian Joshua has joined Shearman & Sterling as of counsel based in its Brussels’ antitrust practice.
He joins from Steptoe & Johnson.
Joshua, who spent over 27 years in the European Commission during which he led many collusion investigations, focuses on multi-jurisdiction investigations and represents clients before the European Commission and follow-on civil litigation.
His recent cases include advising United Airlines in its successful defence in DG Comp’s Air Cargo investigation and defending Trelleborg before the General Court in the Marine Hose appeal.
Of his new firm Joshua says: “I am very much looking forward to joining this great firm and of course many of my former colleagues. It will be a pleasure to work with this dynamic group of people to further develop the cartel practice.”
Beau Buffier, co-head of Shearman & Sterling's antitrust practice, says: “We are delighted that Julian has decided to join our team. We have an increasing case load of cartel matters and Julian’s stature and wealth of experience will further enhance our ability to deliver the coordinated defence our clients need in multi-jurisdictional cartel cases.”
Joshua is listed in The International Who’s Who of Competition Lawyers and Economists.
