John Bellhouse is leaving White & Case LLP to practise as a full time arbitrator at Gray’s Inn in London.
The former head of arbitration at White & Case will remain a consultant to the firm. He says: “I decided to retire as a partner because I felt if I was ever going to establish a practice as an arbitrator, now was the time. If you want to be a full-time arbitrator you have to be a barrister or be on your own.”
Bellhouse has over 30 years of experience in arbitration and also practises in areas such as construction law, oil and gas and project finance.
He has advised clients involved in some of the world's largest infrastructure projects; most recently, he acted as lead counsel for an oil company in LCIA arbitration over projects in Kuwait.
Bellhouse is regularly featured in The International Who’s Who of Commercial Arbitration, The International Who’s Who of Project Finance Lawyers and The International Who’s Who of Construction Lawyers.
