International law firm Norton Rose LLP has merged with Canadian based Ogilvy Renault and South African firm Deneys Reitz creating Norton Rose OR LLP and Norton Rose South Africa.
The Norton Rose Group is a top 10 global legal practice by number of professionals, with more than 2,600 lawyers including 795 partners. The merger adds eight offices to the group, with five in Canada and three in South Africa giving a total of 39 offices worldwide.
In addition to its internationally recognised strengths in finance; energy; infrastructure; commodities; transport and technology, the enlarged group now offers expertise in pharmaceuticals and life sciences, headed by Toronto-based partner Patrick Kierans. Kierans features in The International Who’s Who of Patent Lawyers and The International Who’s Who of Life Sciences Lawyers.
Commenting on the merger, John Coleman, the former managing partner at Ogilvy Renault said, “This is a tremendous development for the firm and our clients. Norton Rose Group is a global leader, with a highly compatible business focus and client service ethic.”
Coleman, who features in The International Who’s Who of Management Labour and Employment Lawyers, will join the group’s executive committee.
A total of 113 lawyers from the Norton Rose Group are listed in Who’s Who Legal publications making it the ninth largest in our research worldwide with nominees from 13 offices.
