Kirkland & Ellis has hired Tim Muris as of counsel in its Washington, DC antitrust practice. He joins from O’Melveny & Myers where he co-chaired the antitrust practice.
Muris has represented parties before the FTC, the DOJ, the European Commission and other competition authorities.
He served as the chairman of the FTC from 2001 to 2004 and previously directed the FTC’s bureau of consumer protection and bureau of competition, and also served in the President’s office of management and budget.
During his tenure at O’Melveny & Myers, he represented clients such Delta Air Lines, Disney, ExxonMobil, Verizon and Visa on a broad range of merger reviews and antitrust investigations.
“Though I will miss my friends and colleagues at O’Melveny, I look forward to working with my new partners at Kirkland & Ellis, and helping to expand the firm’s first-rate antitrust counselling and regulatory practice,” said Muris.
Muris is featured in The International Who’s Who of Competition Lawyers and Economists.
