DLA Piper has opened a Miami office with the hire of leading litigators Pedro J Martinez-Fraga and C Ryan Reetz.
Effective 1 March the new office will be the gateway to Latin America and has also become a critical business and financial centre for DLA clients with interests abroad.
“This expansion creates a myriad of inbound and outbound opportunities for our clients throughout Europe and Spain,” said Juan Picón, EMEA group head of corporate at DLA Piper and Spain managing partner.
Both partners arrive from Squire Sanders & Dempsey LLP where Martinez-Fraga served as head of the international dispute resolution practice in Florida and Latin America.
He focuses on international litigation and transnational arbitration, including complex jurisdictional disputes and has served as an arbitrator before the International Chamber of Commerce and the World Bank’s International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes.
In his new role he will serve as coordinator of DLA Piper’s international arbitration practice in Florida and Latin America.
C Ryan Reetz has wide-ranging experience as trial counsel in international and domestic commercial and regulatory disputes including transactional financing, unfair trade practice cases, fraud claims and contract disputes.
“With our focus on international arbitration and transnational disputes, DLA Piper provides the most comprehensive global platform which will be a tremendous resource to our clients based in Miami as well as those abroad,” commented Martinez-Fraga.
Martinez-Fraga and Reetz both feature in The International Who’s Who of Commercial Litigators.
