Diego Devos is promoted to GC of BIS

The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) has appointed a new general counsel.
Diego Devos will begin his new role in October replacing Daniel Lefort who joined BIS in 1984 and has held the position of general counsel since January 2006. Devos joined BIS in 2006 as deputy general counsel. For over 28 years, he has provided legal advice and assistance to central banks and international financial organisations including Euroclear Bank and the National Bank of Belgium.
In his new role, Devos will head the legal service at BIS and serve as a member of the group's executive committee.
Established on 17 May 1930, BIS is the world's oldest international financial organisation. Its headquarters is in Basel, Switzerland.
