Dechert LLP has welcomed Michael Weiner as a partner and co-chair of its antitrust/competition practice in New York. He arrives from Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom LLP.
Weiner’s practice involves resolving government investigations and litigating for clients with antitrust issues in various sectors including the telecommunications and technology industries. Most recently he represented Yahoo! in its joint venture with Microsoft, and its proposed distribution relationship with Google. He has also handled price-fixing cases and other antitrust class actions within the insurance, real estate and natural mineral industries.
“I have worked with Michael in several different capacities over the course of my career and have seen first hand the judgment and skill he brings to everything he does,” said Paul Denis, co-chair of Dechert’s antitrust/competition practice group. “I am delighted that we are now partners and that Michael is part of our leadership team.”
Commenting on his move, Weiner said: “I am excited by the opportunity to join Dechert’s outstanding antitrust team. Although it was a difficult decision to leave Skadden, I am energised by the prospect of contributing to the growth of Dechert’s practice on the national and global level.”
Weiner features in The International Who’s Who of Competition Lawyers and Economists.
