Leading banking institution, Popular, has named Ignacio “Nacho” Alvarez as its general counsel and executive vice president in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
A founding partner of the law firm Pietrantoni Méndez & Alvarez LLP also in San Juan, Alvarez is expected to begin his new role around 21 June.
Jaime Santos, the firm’s managing partner, said: “We are very excited for Nacho as he takes on this important position at Popular. We will miss his many talents and key contributions. We are certain that Popular has acquired a great asset in Nacho.”
Alvarez has had a diverse corporate practice, with an emphasis on corporate finance, banking, and general corporate representations.
He has also served as adjunct professor of federal securities law at the University of Puerto Rico’s School of Law and is a member of the Board of Regents of Georgetown University.
