Sidley Austin LLP has welcomed arbitration specialist David Roney as a partner in its Geneva office. He joined on 1 January after 12 years at Schellenberg Wittmer.
Roney has broad experience handling high-profile international arbitration matters. He has acted as counsel before international arbitral tribunals in a range of commercial disputes involving share and asset purchase agreements, international joint venture agreements, construction and manufacturing contracts and distribution, licensing and sponsorship arrangements.
Roney joins Sidley’s growing European international dispute resolution team working closely with Dorothy Cory-Wright, who heads up the firm’s ADR team in London and alongside Marc Palay, who also recently joined Sidley in Geneva.
“Sidley provides me with an exceptional opportunity to expand my practice at a firm that has a strong presence in key markets across the world and that is recognised as a global leader in international arbitration,” said Roney.
Elliott Geisinger, head of Schellenberg Wittmer’s arbitration group in Geneva, says, “This is a great opportunity for David, and all the partners of Schellenberg Wittmer understand his decision. Everyone at Schellenberg Wittmer wishes David much success at his new firm.”
Roney features in The International Who’s Who of Commercial Arbitration.
