On 1 November, Claude Lazarus joined the Paris office of Howrey LLP from Clifford Chance LLP where he served from 2002.
Lazarus is now head of Howrey’s new competition practice in Paris and will work closely with the co-chair of its antitrust group and head of the European competition practice, Trevor Soames. He joins with partner Audrey Amsellem and a team of four associates from Clifford Chance.
Lazarus says, “Antitrust law is one of Howrey’s premier practice areas and the firm’s reputation in this area is exceptional.” He adds that joining Howrey means that his team will be able to offer clients “the highest level of expertise on the most complex matters”.
Lazarus thought about creating his own specialist firm, but after speaking to clients he found that they value both expert opinion and a recognisable brand. He says, “Howrey has got both an extraordinary brand name as well as the specialist focus.”
Lazarus’s expertise expands to anti-competitive practices, restrictive practices, merger control, state aids and deregulation law. He has considerable experience in energy, telecommunications, transport, automobiles, financial services and heavy industry, having represented major companies including EDF, Vivendi and L’Oreal
Lazarus features in The International Who’s Who of Competition Lawyers & Economists.
