The American Intellectual Property Law Association has elected Mark Whitaker as general counsel for a three year term based in Washington DC.
He is currently chair of the international trade commission practice at Baker Botts LLP where he focuses on patent and trademark litigation and counselling. With over 20 years of litigation experience, Whittaker has represented clients before the US District Courts, the ITC and the Court of Federal Claims
At the AIPLA, Whitaker will manage all legal matters and attend the association’s board and executive committee meetings.
“This is an honour and a challenge,” commented Whitaker. “The legal issues confronting the association and its members in today’s high-tech driven, global economy are complex.”
Founded in 1897, the AIPLA is a national bar association constituted primarily of lawyers and academics involved in IP law and fields relating to it.
