Amyn Mussa is a leading figure in the Kenyan project finance market, where he is well versed in handling matters across the energy and infrastructure sectors.
Amyn is a partner at Anjarwalla & Khanna (A&K) and the head of the firm’s projects and infrastructure department. Under Amyn’s leadership, A&K has developed a dynamic energy and projects practice and is regularly engaged on the most significant power and infrastructure projects in East Africa.
Amyn acted for the sponsors of the 310MW Turkana Wind Power project, a transaction which was recognised as the African Renewables Deal of the Year 2014 by both Project Finance International (PFI) and the IJGlobal Europe & Africa Awards. With over 20 years of experience, Amyn is consistently recognised for his expertise by international directories. He is the only lawyer in Kenya ranked “Band 1” in the projects and energy category of Chambers Global 2019.
Amyn has also handled some of the largest infrastructure projects in the region, including power, roads, ports, waste management, telecom infrastructure, industrial parks and mini-cities such as the Garden City and Two Rivers developments. In addition, Amyn is active in the oil and gas sector having represented leading companies such as Tullow and Africa Oil and has also advised the government of Kenya on its first-ever coal concessions and the development of the 5000km undersea fibre optic cable that links Kenya to the UAE.
Amyn also co-heads ALN’s energy and infrastructure sector group. ALN, which was founded by A&K, is an alliance of leading corporate law firms currently in 15 key African jurisdictions and the UAE. Amyn is an advocate of the High Court of Kenya and an alumnus of the University of Houston, USA.
