Alysson Hautsch Oikawa is a director partner at Baril Advogados, head of the intellectual property department, dedicating a significant amount of his practice to international clients.
With more than 16 years of experience, Mr Oikawa has been recognised for providing prompt and diligent assistance on administrative prosecution, and strategic advice on litigation, validity and infringement studies. Much of his work on patents and industrial designs has been dedicated to clients from the areas of apparel and footwear, textiles, retail, construction and engineering, and consumer products.
Mr Oikawa holds a Master of Laws degree (LLM) from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a Bachelor of Law degree from the Federal University of Parana (UFPR). He also holds a bachelor’s degree in communications, with an emphasis on advertising, from the Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná (PUCPR).
He is listed in as one of the “most admired lawyers in Brazil” for IP by Análise Advocacia 500 (2016–2018), obtaining a top-tier ranking in 2018.
Mr Oikawa has been appointed as member of the IP committee of the Brazilian Bar Association (Paraná section, OAB/PR), and the academic committee of the International Trademark Association (INTA). He is also a member of the Brazilian Association of Industrial Property (ABPI).
Mr Oikawa is also recognised for his academic career, with various articles published on the topics of IP, innovation management, cyberlaw and advertising law. He is an adjunct professor of undergraduate and postgraduate courses at the University Centre of Curitiba, and postgraduate programmes at PUCPR, Positivo University, FAE Business School and ISAE/FGV.
