Alvaro is a chartered MSc civil engineer and holds an MBA and a BIM master’s degree, with over 16 years of experience in consulting and construction organisations where he has dealt with complex claims. Further, Alvaro specialised in assisting private, corporate and public clients throughout the construction process and has been involved as an expert witness in civil works, road, rail, tram, foundations, geotechnical, tunnel, hydraulic, energy, urban, building and industrial projects.
As a senior consultant and member of the Altran Forensic Engineering Team, Alvaro has participated in all phases of litigation and arbitration related to construction projects in Spain, Romania, France, Algeria, Dominican Republic, Panama, Colombia, Bolivia, Ecuador or Uzbekistan. Alvaro has given evidence in Spanish and English languages on quantum and delay analysis, and related to a variety of construction processes and technical issues in Europe, North America and Central and South America where he has served as a party appointed and, in some cases, as a tribunal appointed expert.
Alvaro is an expert witness of Spain’s Association of Civil Engineers (CICCP), chairperson and member of the national coordination commission of the Mediation Institution of Spanish Civil Engineers, a member of the technical committees of transportation and geotechnical forensic engineering of the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE) and a member of the AACE International.
Alvaro is the author of several civil engineering-related papers and provides training to construction companies on public contracts and on claim management, preparation and avoidance regarding international contracts.
