Alexandre graduated from the Pontifical Catholic University of Minas Gerais (PUC Minas) (1990), and obtained a postgraduate degree in civil law from the Institute of Continuing Education of PUC Minas (2003). He was professor of civil procedural law, general theory of process and themes of civil procedural law at PUC Minas (2007–2009), and professor of environmental collective procedural law at CEAJUFE (2012).
Alexandre Figueiredo has served as a lawyer in several arbitration disputes, notably commercial.
He is currently treasurer-director of the Brazilian Bar Association, Minas Gerais section; director (first secretary) of the Minas Gerais Lawyers’ Institute; and former president of the Brazilian Bar Association's ethics and disciplinary committee, Minas Gerais section (2007–2009).
