Biography

Alexandra is a Mexican and US-trained international attorney, who focuses her practice on alternative dispute resolution, including commercial arbitration, investor-state arbitration, mediation and conciliation. Alexandra has participated in the representation of parties in international disputes involving bilateral and multilateral investment treaties, hydrocarbons, mining, sovereign debt, energy and pharmaceutical industry disputes, among other subjects. She has also participated in international human rights matters before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, and in pro bono cases involving sexual trafficking, protection of journalists and freedom of speech. Alexandra is certified mediator no. 455 before the Alternative Justice Centre of the Superior Justice Tribunal of Mexico City, and the former vice president of the mediation committee of the International Chamber of Commerce Mexico. She was also an international associate at Debevoise & Plimpton LLP in New York.

She obtained her law degree (JD) from Escuela Libre de Derecho (thesis summa cum laude) and her Master of Laws degree (LLM) from Northwestern University School of Law (with honours).

In 2015, Alexandra was recognised as a "rising talent" in the global meeting of the Women's Forum for the Economy and Society in Deauville, France; she currently serves as a member of the advisory board of the Women's Forum in Mexico. Alexandra is often invited to lecture on the intersection of conflict resolution with technology and gender.
