Biography

Alexander Jolles is a partner in Schellenberg Wittmer's dispute resolution group and is head of the private clients group in Zurich. His practice focuses on international arbitration and litigation, inheritance matters, estate and succession planning, complex trust and estate disputes, and the establishment and management of foundations under Swiss law. In addition, Alexander has a strong practice in all aspects of art law, including art-related litigation.

Some recent examples of Alexander's expertise in litigation include counsel in construction litigation regarding defects in the building of a large event hall in Switzerland; counsel in litigation regarding a shareholders' and fiduciary's dispute resulting from a complex share purchase transaction and bankruptcy proceedings in the field of gasification technology; and counsel in an international dispute regarding mismanagement of funds by a fiduciary.

Alexander publishes regularly in his fields of specialisation. He is on the list of arbitrators of the ICC national committee for Switzerland, the World Intellectual Property Organisation and the Court of Arbitration for Art. Alexander is a member of several leading international arbitration and professional organisations.

Alexander graduated from the University of Berne and was admitted to the Swiss Bar in 1988. From 1989 to 1991, he worked as a foreign associate with two US law firms. He joined Schellenberg Wittmer in 1991 and has been a partner since 1998.
