Alberto Fernández López a seasoned practitioner as corporate companies’ lawyer in activities such as construction, civil liability, real estates, marketing of commodities, agroindustry and exportation of raw materials, international distribution and transportation of merchandise, agency and representation agreements, devoting himself with special emphasis to the negotiation and structuring of complex contracts. Also, he has focused his professional practice on litigation in sophisticated civil and commercial judicial and arbitration proceedings and is lawyer expert in the alternate resolution of conflicts (mediator and arbitrator).
His professional activity is complemented with frequent designations as arbitrator and president in arbitral tribunals where he has participated more than 90 national arbitration proceedings.
In the field of international arbitration, he stands out as having been arbitrator in an ICC’s international commercial arbitration.
He is frequently called to integrate legal teams in complex international commercial arbitration in construction, distribution agreements, and others commercial cases and has extensive experience as a mediator resolving complex banking conflicts, construction, bankruptcies, and insolvencies.

As member of the board of directors of the conciliation and arbitration centre of Costa Rica’s Chamber of Commerce, he was director of the work team that drafted the international arbitration by-laws of that centre.
