Biography

Alastair Farr is head of the UK and Europe Construction Solutions team, based in London. He is experienced in providing expert advisory services including acting as expert witness in matters of quantum and delay.

For over 30 years, he has worked in UK and internationally (in the Far East, Australia, the Middle East and the USA), on projects located in Europe, Africa and Latin America. He has led the global practice of one international claims consultant as its managing director and has led the Asia-Pacific region of another.

His experience extends to matters including loss and expense/damages; disputed variations and valuation; delay; and extensions of time, on projects across a wide range of engineering and construction industry sectors including offshore and onshore oil and gas; shipbuilding; subsea works; civil engineering; building; rail; water; and mining.

He has a quantity surveying and contracting background, and is also a non-practising barrister and mediator. He has experience of most forms of dispute resolution including ADR (mediation and expert determination), adjudications (over 150 to date), arbitration and litigation.

He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and an incorporated member of the Chartered Institute of Builders. He is a member of the Worshipful Company of Arbitrators.
