Who's Who Legal Competition: Future Leaders - Non Partners

Attila Komíves is a member of the competition, EU and regulatory practice of the Budapest office of Allen & Overy LLP. Attila is a Hungarian-qualified attorney, with over 10 years of experience in competition law matters. He specialises in EU and Hungarian competition law and also has a wide range of experience in intellectual property and regulatory matters. He regularly advises clients on all aspects of Hungarian national and EU competition law, and in relation to proceedings before the Hungarian and EU competition authorities, including merger control proceedings and cartel investigations. He also has a strong track record of handling leniency applications.

He recently secured a second instance court victory for ING in relation to the multilateral interchange fee cartel. For UPC, he negotiated a commitment with the Hungarian Competition Authority, closing an abuse of dominance investigation without any findings of infringement or fines imposed. He is advising Magyar Telekom, a fixed and mobile network operator, in relation to its network sharing arrangement with another mobile network operator in Hungary.

Before joining Allen & Overy, Attila worked for another international law firm in Budapest. As part of his professional career at Allen & Overy, in 2011–2012 he spent five months at the European Commission's competition directorate and in 2016 he worked for Allen & Overy’s Brussels office. He also holds an LLM from the University of London.

Attila is the author of a number of articles on competition law issues and is a regular speaker at competition law workshops and seminars. He has been a national contributor to the handbook Bellamy & Child: European Union Law of Competition, and a national case reporter for Oxford Competition Law Online. He is an active member of the Hungarian Competition Law Association.

Allen & Overy's antitrust and competition practice comprises over 120 specialists located across Asia, Australia, Europe and North America. The practice advises corporate clients and financial institutions on their global antitrust policies, litigation and regulatory strategies and has acted on some of the highest-profile and most complex cases in recent years.

WWL says: Attila Komives wins praise for his expertise in EU and Hungarian competition law and stands out for his work in the intellectual property space.
