Who's Who Legal France - Competition

Julie Catala Marty joined Franklin law firm in 2015 to create its competition distribution department. Since 2000, she has been representing clients before French and European competition authorities and French ordinary courts.

Her experience covers anticompetitive and restrictive practices, distribution law, state aid and merger control. She also assists her clients in damages actions (private enforcement) before ordinary courts. She is regularly mandated on the most cutting-edge cases, both in merger control (complex horizontal mergers and gun-jumping issues) and anticompetitive practices (cartels and abuses of dominance). She has extensive experience in the field of dawn raids, including on the upstream preparation and management of inspections by competition authorities and in the design and implementation of compliance programmes.

Julie’s practice spans a variety of industries, she has recognised expertise in the fields of network industries (telecommunications, transport and energy), media and television, luxury goods, financial services, aviation, consumer goods, building materials and heavy industries.

Julie also contributes to various publications and is a member of several associations such as the French Competition Lawyers’ Association (Association des Avocats Pratiquant le Droit de la Concurrence) and the French Association for the Study of Competition (Association Française d'Etude de la Concurrence). She is a frequent speaker at antitrust conferences and seminars.

In less than three years, Franklin’s competition team expertise has been praised and recommended by all major rankings such as Chambers and Partners, GCR and The Legal 500, which highlighted Julie’s “fantastic sense of strategy and knowledge of her clients’ business sector” and her “competence, responsiveness and quality of analyses”.

WWL says: Julie Catala Marty is a favourite among clients who appreciate her "efficiency and ability to offer effective solutions" and describe her as "a pleasure to work with" on competition-related matters.
