Michael is a managing director at Berkeley Research Group. He is a chartered quantity surveyor and fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and has more than 26 years of commercial management and construction claims experience. Michael specialises in supporting clients with issues relating to time and quantum that arise from troubled and distressed projects. Michael is an established practising testifying expert witness and is frequently called upon to provide independent testimony on matters of quantum associated with acceleration, delay damages, valuation of works, change orders and project disruption.

Michael is based in Dubai and is Berkeley Research Group’s Middle East Construction lead. Prior to relocating to the Middle East he was based in the United Kingdom, where he worked on a broad portfolio of domestic and international projects.

Michael provides support from Dubai to a broad range of regional and international clients, including owners, developers, engineers, architects, building and civil engineering contractors, ship builders, fabrication yards, EPC contractors, funders and insurers.

Michael’s considerable expertise has been gained from having worked for both consulting and contractor organisations and on a wide range of projects, ranging from oil and gas, petrochemical, offshore, building and civil engineering infrastructure projects.

He has been appointed as independent party-appointed expert on matters of quantum on construction and engineering disputes in court and arbitration proceedings both in arbitration and litigation. Michael has also been appointed as tribunal expert. In addition to being appointed as expert he has supported clients in adjudication, mediation and formal contract negotiations.
