Gustav Flecke-Giammarco is the founder and owner of the Munich-based boutique law firm Flecke-Giammarco Arbitration and Dispute Resolution. Before setting up Flecke-Giammarco Arbitration and Dispute Resolution in 2017, Gustav was a senior associate in the litigation and arbitration practice group at Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek, a major independent German law firm with more than 300 lawyers.
Prior to joining Heuking Kühn Lüer Wojtek in 2015, Gustav served as counsel in the case management team at the secretariat of the ICC International Court of Arbitration in Paris dealing mainly with cases from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, Benelux and Nordic countries. During his six years at the ICC, Gustav supervised over 850 arbitrations, including several investment treaty and emergency arbitrator cases, and was involved in the review of some 450 awards as part of the ICC Court’s scrutiny process.
Gustav regularly acts as counsel and arbitrator in multifaceted domestic and international arbitrations, inter alia, under the auspices of the ICC, DIS, SCC, SCAI and VIAC. He has extensive cross-border experience of complex disputes and arbitrations arising from various economic sectors, types of contracts and legal systems, with a focus on share purchase agreements, partnership agreements, joint venture agreements, licence agreements, distribution agreements, long-term gas supply contracts, construction, industrial cooperation and infrastructure projects.
Gustav is an appointed member of the drafting committee for the revision of the DIS Arbitration Rules and the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR. He is a guest lecturer at the University of Bonn, Swiss Arbitration Academy and Swiss International Law School, and a member of the editorial board of the Journal of International Arbitration.
Gustav, deemed a “rising star” in his field, is fluent in German, English, French and Italian. He is a certified mediator for economic disputes.
