Who's Who Legal Arbitration: Lawyers

In the past 25 years, Philipp Habegger has acted as counsel and arbitrator in about 200 arbitration proceedings in over 15 different jurisdictions and under a variety of rules, including ICC, SCAI (Swiss Rules), LCIA, SIAC, VIAC, AAA/ICDR, SCC, DIS and UNCITRAL, governed by the substantive laws of Switzerland, Germany, Austria, France, England, Russia, Greece, India, Turkey, South Korea, Japan, Panama, Liechtenstein, Italy, Romania, Malta, Finland, the Netherlands, Egypt, Estonia, New York and California, as well as the UN Sales Convention and UNIDROIT Principles. He has been involved in disputes arising out of, inter alia, joint ventures, mergers and acquisitions, shareholder agreements, international sales, agency and distribution, licensing, and construction and engineering projects, across a range of industries, including telecommunications, chemicals, food and drugs, defence, machinery, power and energy, and commodity trading.

Philipp was a member of the ICC International Court of Arbitration (2009-2015) and is the immediate past president of the Arbitration Court of the Swiss Chambers' Arbitration Institution (which administers the Swiss Rules). He is a former vice chair of the Arbitration Committee of the International Bar Association. A frequent speaker at international conferences, he also teaches international arbitration and international sales at the University of Zurich faculty of law, acts as a course director for the Swiss Arbitration Academy and publishes regularly.

Before setting up his own arbitration boutique practice in 2017, Philipp Habegger was a partner in leading Swiss law firms for many years. He has also practised law in New York and speaks German, English and French.
