Kathryn joined AlixPartners UK LLP as a managing director on 1 January 2017, having been a partner at KPMG LLP. She has 40 years’ accounting experience and for more than 23 years has provided forensic and dispute consulting services including expert witness and expert determination. She has extensive experience in high-profile and international cases involving accounting and auditing issues and calculations of loss and damages. She has carried out financial and regulatory investigations, written hundreds of accounting and quantum reports and testified on many occasions. Her involvement includes disputes arising from M&A transactions, breach of contract or warranty, competition matters, misrepresentation, fraudulent accounting, professional negligence and insurance claims.
Kathryn's industry experience includes professional services, financial services, natural resources, telecommunications, IT, hospitality, wholesale, retail, pharmaceutical, shipping, logistics and transport, as well as public sector and regulators. She has worked for European, Far East and US law firms on cases involving entities in the UK and Europe, Russia, the Far East, the Middle East, India, Africa, the US and South America.
Kathryn trained with Deloitte Haskins & Sells (now PwC) and qualified as a chartered accountant in 1979. She became a fellow of the ICAEW in 1989 and a fellow of the Academy of Experts in 2006.
Kathryn is a member of the council of the ICAEW, past chairman of the ICAEW’s forensic and expert witness special interest group and she is currently chairman of the ICAEW’s audit committee. She is also a non-executive director of the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry and has been vice chairman of the Academy of Experts. Kathryn is a trained mediator and a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
