Ms Massa has 20 years’ experience in Mexico and abroad, both in the public and private sectors, in areas ranging from corporate transactions and capital markets, to economic and administrative law, including antitrust.  As head of GC’s antitrust and competition practice, Ms Massa regularly provides legal counsel and representation to major public and private companies and investment funds participating in the Mexican market. She leads the team that handles merger control procedures, design and implementation of strategy, compliance and training programs for major companies, lobbying, and advice and representation of clients in investigation proceedings (cartel behavior, abuse of dominance and barriers to entry, including applications to the leniency programme).

Ms Massa has a law degree with highest honours (mención honorífica) from the Mexico Autonomous Institute of Technology (ITAM) and a master's degree (LLM) from Harvard Law School, where she attended as a Fulbright scholar.

Ms Massa has regularly taught courses both at undergrad and graduate levels related to her areas of expertise since 2003 at ITAM, CIDE and IPADE. She is member of the New York Bar (first department), American Bar Association, a non-governmental adviser (NGA) to Cofece within the International Competition Network (ICN), sits on the advisory board of the Programa Interdisciplinario de Regulación y Competencia Económica (PIRCE - a competition and regulation think tank), and is a board member of the Center for US and Mexican Law at the University of Houston and Abogadas MX.

WWL says: With more than 20 years’ experience, Cristina Massa is a long-standing fixture in the market who boasts “very strong antitrust credentials” thanks to her time as commissioner of the Mexican Federal Competition Commission.
