Thomas Lennarz is a partner in CMS's international arbitration group based in Stuttgart. He has acted as counsel and arbitrator in more than 50 commercial and corporate arbitration proceedings and has gained extensive experience also in all other forms of dispute resolution.

He has acted as arbitrator (chairman, sole arbitrator and party-appointed arbitrator) under various institutional rules (including ICC and DIS) and in ad hoc proceedings. He also regularly acts in domestic and international arbitrations as counsel. Further, he assists parties in German state court proceedings enforcing foreign awards and judgements.

He is a German Rechtsanwalt and qualified as a commercial mediator (IHK Munich). He obtained his doctorate degree (PhD) from the University of Passau in European Litigation law and holds a diploma in international commercial arbitration from the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb). Alongside his legal practice he also teaches civil law, negotiation, mediation and arbitration at the University of Heidelberg.

Thomas joined CMS in 2004. In 2009, he worked in the legal department of Linde AG in Sydney, Australia, before being made a CMS partner in 2012.

He is the head of CMS's corporate litigation group and the chairman of the German chapter of CIArb.

JUVE, Germany's leading publication for legal services in Germany, recognises him as frequently recommended in corporate disputes and he has been named by Euromoney ExpertGuides as "Rising Star in Commercial Arbitration 2016".

WWL says: Thomas Lennarz "made a very positive impression" on market sources, who commend his outstanding advocacy skills and expertise in the energy sector.
