Simone Hofbauer is a specialist in international arbitration. She is a partner with Barandun von Graffenried, allowing her to scale up as needed with several office colleagues, forming an efficient arbitration team for larger cases.
Simone has ample experience as arbitrator, counsel and tribunal secretary in international arbitration under various institutional rules such as ICC and Swiss Rules, and ad hoc proceedings. Recent cases dealt with construction contracts, joint ventures, shareholders and investment agreements, energy and gas disputes, telecommunications, intellectual property, international purchase and sale agreements, distribution agreements, and financial industry disputes.
Simone is a member of the Swiss Arbitration Association (ASA), ArbitralWomen, the International Bar Association (IBA) and the Swiss Friends of the USA (SFUSA). Simone acts as executive committee member of the International Young Lawyers Association (AIJA) and frequently organises seminars and conferences with a focus on arbitration. She has published articles and contributed to books on several aspects of arbitration and regularly speaks as a panellist and moderator on arbitration topics.
Beyond arbitration, Simone advises and represents Swiss and foreign companies as well as individuals in the areas of corporate and commercial law, financial services, contract law and private international law. Before joining Barandun von Graffenried as partner in 2014, Simone practised law with Wenger Vieli from 2002 through 2013, where she served as tribunal secretary, arbitrator and counsel in various arbitration cases.
Simone holds a law degree from the University of Zurich complemented with an LLM in international business law from American University, Washington College of Law, and has worked for a law firm in Washington, DC.
