Anton Ware is a partner in Arnold & Porter’s international arbitration group. His practice focuses on high-stakes commercial and investor-state arbitration matters and related litigation. He also has substantial experience handling investigations, including with respect to alleged violations of the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA).
Mr Ware has appeared for clients in numerous domestic and international arbitrations before the leading arbitration institutions as well as ad hoc arbitration panels. His commercial arbitration clients operate worldwide in a number of industries, including for example consumer electronics, information technology, high-tech manufacturing, heavy industry, private equity, transportation, and energy.
In his investor-state arbitration practice, Mr Ware represents and advises both states and investors, including before the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID). His recent investor-state arbitrations have involved disputes arising out of investments in the banking, real estate and power sectors.
Mr Ware is an adjunct professor at UC Hastings College of the Law, where he teaches a seminar on international commercial arbitration. He writes and speaks frequently on international arbitration topics.
Mr Ware has advanced proficiency in written and spoken Mandarin Chinese and is skilled at handling disputes and investigations relating to China.
Mr Ware holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees in international affairs from the Johns Hopkins University and a JD from Columbia Law School, where he was an editor of the Columbia Law Review and a judicial extern to the Honorable Sonia Sotomayor of the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.
