Melis Acuner is a European counsel in Skadden's international arbitration and litigation practice, which focuses on complex cross-border disputes. She has acted as counsel in numerous cases in London and worldwide, under the rules of all the major arbitral institutions and before ad hoc tribunals, involving a variety of national laws and investment treaty systems. She has acted for corporations and governments across a range of industry sectors including energy, telecommunications, media, construction, banking and finance, insurance and pharmaceuticals. Recent arbitrations have included shareholder disputes in a variety of sectors, complex oil and gas contracts, petroleum industry joint ventures, telecoms investment disputes, gas sales agreements and gas pricing and repricing formulae.
Ms Acuner is one of Turkey's representatives to the ICC Commission and a speaker on international arbitration topics, in particular involving investment treaty and energy-related disputes. Ms Acuner practices fully bilingually in English and French, and speaks fluent Turkish and Spanish.
Ms Acuner is a graduate of the Universities of Pantheon-Assas Paris II and the London School of Economics, and is qualified to practise in England and Wales, and France.
