Tanya Landon focuses on international commercial and investment treaty arbitration, and complex cross-border litigation.
Tanya represents clients in all phases of complex, multi-jurisdictional disputes before major arbitral institutions. She acts as counsel, arbitrator and tribunal secretary in a wide range of matters, including disputes involving construction contracts, shareholders’ and joint venture agreements, licence and distribution agreements and international sales contracts. Tanya also regularly provides advice on international judicial assistance matters in Switzerland and other European jurisdictions.
Significant recent engagements include: representing the claimant in an ICC arbitration seated in Geneva with €1 billion in claims and counterclaims related to the cancellation of a nuclear power plant project; representing a CIS aluminium company in complex and high-value arbitrations filed in Zurich and Stockholm under the Swiss and SCC Rules against an important state-owned entity in central Asia in cases involving complex issues of Swiss, English, BVI and Russian law; representing a US life sciences company in an ICC arbitration with seat in London concerning a licence and distribution agreement with respect to cardiovascular diagnostic testing under US law; and representing a Middle Eastern distributor in an ICC arbitration in Geneva against a multinational beverage manufacturer for claims related to the termination of a long-term distribution agreement.
Tanya is a member of Sidley’s committee on retention and promotion of women. She teaches on the prestigious Geneva LLM in international dispute settlement (MIDS, Geneva Law School and Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies). She is a member of the Swiss Arbitration Association, Arbitral Women, the ICC Young Arbitrators Forum and Young Canadian Arbitration Practitioners. Tanya is fluent in English and French. Tanya regularly publishes and speaks at conferences on issues of international arbitration.
