Daryl Chew is a partner in Shearman & Sterling’s international arbitration group. He has advised and represented clients in arbitrations conducted under the ICC, LCIA, HKIAC, SIAC and UNCITRAL Rules, as well as ad hoc proceedings. These involve a wide range of applicable laws and venues, arising from energy, construction, M&A, joint venture and general commercial disputes, as well as matters having an Asian nexus.
Daryl Chew also serves as arbitrator. He has been appointed as presiding arbitrator in SIAC arbitrations, and sole arbitrator in several institutional and ad hoc arbitration proceedings. He serves on the HKIAC List of Arbitrators, KLRCA panel of arbitrators and the SIAC Users Council.
Daryl Chew consistently features as a leading individual in various professional directories, including Chambers Global, Chambers Asia-Pacific and Asia-Pacific Legal 500 which have commended his “superb written advocacy” and “limitless appetite for hard work”, and recommended him for “consistently high-quality work”. Prior to joining Shearman & Sterling, Daryl Chew served as a Justices’ law clerk at the Supreme Court of Singapore, clerking for the Chief Justice, Justices of Appeal and judges of the High Court.
