Dr Sebastian D Müller is a senior associate in King & Spalding’s international arbitration practice, resident in the Frankfurt office. His practice focuses on commercial and investment disputes. He represents clients in domestic and international arbitration proceedings (in particular under the DIS, ICC, ICSID, SCC and Swiss Rules and in ad hoc proceedings), enforcement actions as well as in alternative dispute resolution proceedings. He accepts appointments as arbitrator.
Dr Müller gained particular experience in post-M&A, construction and financial matters as well as long-term contract adaptation, commercial agency and joint venture disputes. He regularly advises clients in the international arbitration or investigations context on German and European data protection and cross-border data transfers issues. He acts before German courts in international litigation cases, in particular in Hague Convention matters, and regularly assists in US discovery and deposition requests that involve German entities.
Dr Müller is co-chair of the under-40 group of the German Institution of Arbitration (DIS) for the Frankfurt region. He also participated in the Young ICCA mentoring programme. Dr Müller regularly publishes on dispute-related topics and speaks at conferences. He studied in Heidelberg (Germany) and Leuven (Belgium). During his legal training, he worked with law firms specialised in arbitration in London, Frankfurt and Zurich. In 2011, he obtained a doctorate-in-law from the University of Heidelberg (Dr jur). He speaks German and English.
