For several decades Hans was a partner in the Swedish law firm Vinge practising in Stockholm and London respectively. Since January 2012, he has been senior counsel at MAQS in Stockholm.
As of 1 January 2017 Hans acts as an independent arbitrator and as counsel in international commercial and investment disputes.
Hans obtained his law degrees at Stockholm University and the University of Michigan Law School. He has also worked with Squire Sanders (now Squire Patton Boggs) in Cleveland, Ohio.
Hans served as the Swedish member of the International Court of Arbitration of the International Chamber of Commerce in Paris (1996-2002); a member of the executive committee of the Swedish Arbitration Association (2007-2011); and a member of the working party that prepared the IBA Rules on the Taking of Evidence in International Arbitration (1999). He also assisted in the preparation in 2010 of the revision of these Rules.
He often participates as a speaker at international conferences.
Hans has extensive and wide-ranging advocacy experience in both court and arbitral proceedings and regularly acts as chairman or member of international arbitral tribunals. Since the mid-1970s, he has served as party counsel or arbitrator in more than 200 international commercial cases before the ICC International Court of Arbitration, the London Court of International Arbitration, the AAA and the SCC, and in ad hoc arbitrations.
