Yuriy Rudyuk is a partner in Van Bael & Bellis’ Brussels office. He specialises in international trade law with a particular focus on trade protection measures (ie, anti-dumping, anti-subsidy, safeguard investigations) involving exporters from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Georgia.
Yuriy regularly represents key CIS exporters in EU anti-dumping proceedings concerning a wide variety of products including tubes, ferrous alloys, steel, chemicals and fertilizers. He also represents exporters in trade defence proceedings initiated by the Customs Union of Belarus-Kazakhstan-Russia and Ukraine.
Over the last 15 years, Yuriy has been representing large Ukrainian industrial groups in all major EU anti-dumping proceedings and made important contributions to the successful termination of a number of high-profile investigations without the imposition of anti-dumping measures. Examples include: Silico-Manganese (2006), Urea (2008), UAN (2011), Ammonium Nitrate (2012), Hollow Sections (2008 and 2012), Ironing boards (2013) and Welded Tubes (2014). This year, he successfully represented a Georgian producer in the first AD proceeding ever initiated in the EU against Georgia – the case concerned imports of manganese oxide.
Yuriy is a regular speaker at prominent conferences, including the International Steel Trade Conference organised by the European Federation of Steel, Tube and Metal Distribution and Trading; MetalBulletin’s 22nd International Iron Ore Symposium; and the 79th Session of the Steel Committee of the OECD. He has also, upon invitation by the International Trade Centre (Geneva), delivered a series of training courses on trade remedies under the WTO Agreements to trade officials in several countries.
Yuriy holds an LLM in international trade law from the University of Amsterdam and a law degree from the University of Lviv Law School. He is a native speaker of Russian and Ukrainian. He also speaks fluent English and Spanish.
WWL says: “Yuriy Rudyuk has strong cross-border expertise, as well as an excellent understanding of the law and economics."
