Daniel Marugg is a respected trial lawyer. He specialises in international and domestic commercial litigation as well as arbitration, predominantly involving contract, construction and energy law as well as banking and post-M&A matters. Furthermore, he represents clients in international civil and criminal judicial assistance proceedings, and he advises and represents select clients in white-collar crime matters.
Moreover, Daniel Marugg is a frequently appointed experienced arbitrator, both ad hoc and administrated by various institutions, mainly by ICC Rules and Swiss Rules. In addition, he offers extrajudicial dispute resolution of commercial disputes as an accredited commercial mediator (CEDR) as well as advisory and/or party representation in proceedings in alternative dispute resolution of commercial disputes.
For nearly 20 years, Daniel Marugg has been a partner and head of litigation and arbitration at various internationally active commercial law firms in Zurich. In 2016 he founded MARUGG DISPUTE RESOLUTION where he works independently in litigation, arbitration and commercial mediation.
Daniel Marugg graduated from the University of Berne with a degree in law and passed the bar in 1991 ("Fürsprecher"). Between 1994 and 1995 he completed his master's degree (LLM) in competition and international commercial law at the University of Amsterdam, The Netherlands. In 2016, Daniel Marugg was certified as a commercial mediator (CEDR) by the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution, London.
He is a member of inter alia the Zurich (ZAV) and the Swiss Bar Association (SAV), the Swiss Arbitration Association (ASA) and the ABA, IBA, LCIA and CEDR.
Daniel Marugg works in German, English and French.
