Deon is a director in ENSafrica’s dispute resolution department, with 10 years of experience.
He specialises in commercial litigation and the resolution of disputes through mediation, arbitration and court proceedings. Deon acts for a wide variety of clients in the mining, property, communications and construction industries, as well as for various state-owned entities, accounting and auditing firms, and several prominent individuals.
Deon’s experience includes advising on matters involving administrative and procurement law, contractual and shareholder disputes, litigation due diligence, unlawful competition, and company hijacking. In addition, he has successfully negotiated and settled several litigious matters amicably.
More recently, Deon has been involved in a cross-border transaction, in which he is advising a major financial institution in an international arbitration. He also advised PEU Capital Management and Total Utilities Management Services in a contentious administrative law review. Deon further advised Kalahari Resources and Kalagadi Manganese in the first high-profile company hijacking matter to receive a judgment by a South African court.
Deon completed his LLB at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, where he was placed on the Dean's List for Academic Merit. He is also a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society. Deon furthered his studies by completing a Certificate in Advanced Company Law I and II at the University of the Witwatersrand. He was admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa in 2008.
